Bio:
Celly Black was born and raised in Southern California before moving to Harlem at 17 with her New York–native father. Soon after arriving in the city, she began working in studios recording radio jingles and ad vocals, eventually singing hooks, demos, and reference vocals for major label artists.
Those studio sessions became her training ground. Watching producers and artists build records in real time taught Celly the art of vocal arrangement, songwriting, and the layered harmonies that would become her signature.
Music was already in her DNA. Her single father, a DJ and sound engineer, discovered Celly could sing when she was just four years old and immersed her in music from the start. R&B, pop, rap, and blues played constantly in their home, shaping the melodic instincts and musical sensibilities she carries today.
Gifted with perfect pitch and an ear for harmony she proudly credits to her father, Celly describes her sound as Retro R&B–Pop Soul, or simply “R&B’Everything.”
A songwriter, master vocal arranger, harmony queen, and undeniable songstress, Celly creates lush, feminine melodies that wrap around stories of love, relationships, and emotional truth. For Celly Black, singing about love isn’t just a theme, it’s a calling.
